# Sembcorp Industries clarifies that the UAE hydropower plant was not damaged, and operations at the Middle East facilities are normal | Lianhe Zaobao

In response to media reports regarding the attack on desalination facilities in the Middle East, Sembcorp Industries clarified that the Fujairah F1 Independent Water and Power Plant located in the UAE has not been damaged, and the company's facilities in the Middle East are currently operating normally.

Sembcorp announced on Monday (March 9) on the Singapore Exchange that an earlier report by Global Water Intelligence about Iran's attack on desalination plants and its impact on water supply in the Gulf region was cited by media outlets such as the Associated Press, Lianhe Zaobao, The Straits Times, and The Conversation, which mentioned that the Fujairah F1 power and desalination plant in the UAE had been damaged.

Sembcorp stated that the aforementioned claims are not true. The Fujairah F1 Independent Water and Power Plant, in which Sembcorp holds a 40% stake, has not sustained any damage.

In addition to this project, Sembcorp also operates the Salalah Independent Water and Power Plant in Oman and the Manah II Solar Independent Power Project.

Additionally, Sembcorp pointed out that the sources of its natural gas supply are global, and the LNG shipments expected in 2026 do not come from the Middle East. Besides natural gas, the company's energy portfolio also includes renewable energy and energy storage solutions, which help to diversify the overall energy structure risk.
