In terms of news, the American optical communication technology company Applied Optoelectronics Inc. announced that it has received the first mass production order for 1.6T data center optical transceivers from a long-term major hyperscale customer, amounting to over USD 200 million. Additionally, the 2026 Optical Fiber Communication Conference and Exhibition (OFC) will be held from March 17 to 19 at the Los Angeles Convention Center, with the technical conference starting on March 15. The conference will focus on cutting-edge topics such as AI-driven gigawatt-level data center networks, ultra-low latency transmission of hollow-core optical fibers, and inter-satellite laser communication, attracting technology giants like Huawei, ZTE, and NVIDIA to participate. According to Kaiyuan Securities, as of March 4, the price of G.652.D single-mode optical fiber has risen from RMB 18/km before New Year's Day to the current price of RMB 85-120/km, an increase of nearly 650%; the price of G.657.A1 single-mode optical fiber has risen from RMB 23/km to RMB 115-135/km, an increase of nearly 487%. Industrial Securities pointed out that the valuation system of optical communication companies is expected to shift from "cyclical manufacturing" to "core growth."
