The company stated that this investment will drive the development of next-generation connectivity innovations, covering areas such as autonomous vehicles, telemedicine, and artificial intelligence (AI), while further solidifying AT&T's position as a core provider of digital infrastructure. In 1876, Alexander Graham Bell completed the first telephone call through copper wire and co-founded the American Telephone and Telegraph Company (AT&T) in 1885. AT&T plans to accelerate the deployment of fiber networks, fixed wireless access (FWA) services, 5G coverage, and satellite communication services in urban, suburban, and rural areas. Currently employing approximately 110,000 people, AT&T plans to hire thousands of technicians by 2026, while expanding its technical training programs and enhancing skills related to artificial intelligence. Additionally, AT&T will deepen its capabilities in AI-based threat intelligence and cybersecurity, and open some network interfaces to attract more new vendors to join the telecommunications ecosystem. The plan also includes: deepening collaboration with public sector partners to support national emergency resilience and emergency response capabilities; and helping the United States maintain its leadership position in global technology and innovation.
