# Quantinuum establishes a new R&D center in China. Yang Liming: It will help Singapore become a global quantum computing hub | Lianhe Zaobao

Singapore is committed to becoming an important hub for global quantum computing algorithm and application development, and continuously enhancing our capabilities in hardware and components along the quantum computing value chain. The quantum computing technology company Quantinuum has launched a new research and operations center in our country, which will further strengthen our quantum technology ecosystem.

Minister for Digital Development and News, Janil Puthucheary, made the above remarks during the ribbon-cutting ceremony for Quantinuum's new research center on Wednesday (March 11).

In his speech, Puthucheary stated that Singapore can leverage its existing advantages in potential application areas such as finance, logistics, and pharmaceuticals when developing quantum technology and applications; our country has strengths in semiconductors, advanced packaging, and precision manufacturing, which can also support the development of quantum technology.

The company looks forward to deeper cooperation with researchers and enterprises in our country to jointly develop commercially valuable quantum technology solutions. Quantinuum also intends to promote local talent cultivation through internships, workshops, and seminars. Yang Liming said this will accelerate the enhancement of local workforce skills and cultivate a stronger talent pipeline in quantum technology.

It is reported that this is Quantinuum's first quantum technology research and development center in the ASEAN region and the second in Asia. The company also plans to deploy one of the world's most advanced commercial quantum computers, the Helios system, in Singapore this year. Although a more detailed timeline has not yet been announced, this will be the first time the Helios system is established outside the United States. On Wednesday, Quantinuum also signed a memorandum of understanding with the local quantum technology startup Squareroot8 to explore relevant cooperation
