# Amazon issued approximately $54 billion in bonds this week, with enthusiastic responses from investors

Amazon (AMZN.US) issued approximately $54 billion in corporate bonds this week, with strong investor response amid escalating tensions in Iran and increasing market uncertainty.

On Tuesday, Amazon issued a total of $37 billion in 11 tranches in the U.S., recording about $126 billion in subscription demand, close to a historical high. On Wednesday, the company also issued bonds in the euro market for the first time, raising €14.5 billion (approximately $16.8 billion), making it the largest corporate bond issuance in the euro market's history.

John Servidea, co-head of JPMorgan's investment-grade debt capital markets, stated that Amazon's higher credit rating has become an important selling point. S&P Ratings has given Amazon an AA rating, which is the third-highest level
