# Thai consumer confidence rises in February, survey shows

BANGKOK, March 13 (Reuters) - The consumer confidence index (THCONF=ECI) of the University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce rose to 53.7 in February from 52.8 in the previous month, a survey showed on Friday.

- Consumer confidence was helped by the central bank lowering interest rates to 1.00% and expectations of stimulus measures from a new government following last month’s elections, said the university, which conducted the survey.
- Thailand’s parliament will open this weekend, paving the way for lawmakers to vote for the next premier next week.
- The university had conducted the survey before the outbreak of war in the Middle East.
- Consumers were worried about geopolitical issues and U.S. trade policy, it said.
