# Tencent is accused of plagiarizing "crayfish" data, and the founder blasts: plagiarism and driving up server costs

The explosive open-source AI agent software OpenClaw (Little Lobster) has swept through mainland China, but netizens have discovered that Tencent (0700) under its platform SkillHub has copied a large amount of data from the official OpenClaw marketplace without communication. This incident has caused strong dissatisfaction from OpenClaw founder Peter Steinberger, who publicly criticized Tencent for "plagiarism" on social media platform X, accusing its actions of driving up server costs. Tencent immediately responded, stating that it has set up a "mirror site," which actually saves the other party over 99% in bandwidth.

## Netizens reveal Tencent SkillHub synchronizes a large number of ClawHub skill packages

The incident began when a netizen posted screenshots on social media platform X today, indicating that Tencent launched a platform called "SkillHub," which has synchronized all skill packages from the OpenClaw official skill marketplace "ClawHub."

OpenClaw founder Peter Steinberger quickly responded, stating that he had received emails complaining about the official server's rate limits being too strict, making it difficult for them to fetch data quickly. He pointed out that the relevant team copied content but provided no support for the project. He directly called out Tencent's official account, questioning, "Can you help support instead of pushing my server costs into five digits?"

## Tencent: The synchronized data is only 1GB

In response to the criticism, Tencent's AI official account publicly replied, stating that SkillHub provided mainland users with up to 180GB of traffic and about 870,000 downloads in its first week, but the actual data synchronized from ClawHub's official source was only 1GB. Tencent also emphasized that SkillHub has always indicated its source as ClawHub, and its team members are active contributors to OpenClaw, expressing a willingness to become better sponsors of the project.

However, this explanation did not quell Steinberger's anger. He bluntly stated that, in his view, Tencent could have made SkillHub the official fifth mirror site, with bidirectional synchronization of download statistics, or even shared download statistics. Instead, they launched the mirror site without even sending an email
