# China appreciates 'positive signals' shown by new Dutch government, foreign minister says

BEIJING, March 13 (Reuters) - China appreciates the “positive signals” shown by the new Dutch government regarding ties with China, and is willing to deepen communication and mutual trust, China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi said during a phone call with his Dutch counterpart on Friday.

Relations between China and the Netherlands have been strained in recent months after The Hague seized chipmaker Nexperia from its Chinese parent Wingtech (600745.SS) in October 2025.

China and the Netherlands are important partners, Wang said, adding that “promoting mutually beneficial cooperation is in the common interest of both countries … and conducive to the security and stability of global industrial and supply chains,” according to a statement released by China’s foreign ministry.

Beijing hopes the new Dutch government can “uphold independence and autonomy, and support the normal economic and trade exchanges between companies of the two countries,” Wang told Dutch Foreign Minister Tom Berendsen.
