In the vote at the flagship plant, the list headed by works council chair Daniela Cavallo received 74.8 percent of the vote, according to the works council following the conclusion of the count. In the previous 2022 election, the figure stood at 85.5 percent. As a result, 52 of the 67 mandates in Wolfsburg went to IG Metall. According to the data, the second strongest force was once again "Die Andere Liste" (The Other List), led by former local IG Metall chief Frank Patta, which increased its share to 14.1 percent, improving from 4 to 10 seats. Patta had previously fallen out with Cavallo's predecessor, Bernd Osterloh, and subsequently founded his own list. During the campaign, he leveled sharp criticism at the works council leadership. Tens of thousands of voters in Wolfsburg In Wolfsburg, 61,300 eligible voters were called to the polls \- nearly half of all 130,000 VW employees in Germany. Six lists and one individual candidate were on the ballot, including the Christian Metalworkers' Union (CGM) and several independent lists, some of which are highly critical of IG Metall. Elections were also held at other Volkswagen AG locations in Lower Saxony, Saxony, and Hesse. IG Metall's share of the vote there was in some cases even higher than at the main plant - usually facing significantly less competition. Cavallo herself only stood for election in Wolfsburg. Representatives for higher-level bodies will later be dispatched from the individual works councils. Cavallo is also chair of the general and group works councils and intends to remain in those positions. Zentrum association wins first seats in Braunschweig For the first time at VW, the employee organization Zentrum, which is considered close to the AfD, also stood for election - albeit only at the Braunschweig components site and with only two candidates. In the vote there, the association, which describes itself as an "alternative union," secured 6.49 percent of the vote, winning 2 of the 35 seats. IG Metall achieved 78.5 percent and 28 mandates in Braunschweig, while the CGM took 15 percent and 5 seats. Zentrum ran with its own list at VW for the first time. Until now, the association has been primarily active in southern and eastern Germany. It was founded in 2009 as "Zentrum Automobil" at the Mercedes-Benz plant in Stuttgart-Untertürkheim./fjo/DP/mis ### Related Stocks - [VWAPY.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/VWAPY.US.md) - [VOW.DE](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/VOW.DE.md) - [VWAGY.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/VWAGY.US.md) ## Related News & Research - [Volkswagen ends US production of its EV, citing market's 'unpredictability'](https://longbridge.com/en/news/282242206.md) - [Volkswagen deliveries down at start of year, weighed by China woes](https://longbridge.com/en/news/282514171.md) - [Key facts: VW to Cut 50000 German Jobs by 2030;SA+7% APexCN-8% MEA-5.3%](https://longbridge.com/en/news/282614787.md) - [Volkswagen posts weak start to year as China, US demand slumps further](https://longbridge.com/en/news/282515343.md) - [Fujimori leads chaotic Peru vote, election officials face charges](https://longbridge.com/en/news/282617016.md)
