Of particular interest is personnel expenditure: wages and salaries rose by 1,2 percent to 156,5 million francs. Headcount increased by 1,5 percent year-on-year to 941 full-time positions. Compensation for the Governing Board (excluding employer social contributions), i.e. the three members of the Governing Board and their deputies, declined from 5,8 million francs to 5,6 million francs. **Slightly Higher Base Salary** The Chairman of the Governing Board, **Martin Schlegel,** earned 1,4 percent more in 2025 than in the previous year. His total compensation, including employer contributions to AHV and the pension fund, amounted to 1,3 million francs. As in the previous year, the compensation report shows that Vice Chairman **Antoine Martin** earned slightly more. The difference of around 40'000 francs is due to higher employer contributions to the pension fund and AHV. In terms of base salary and other compensation, both received the same amount of 1,017 million francs. The base salary increased by 15'500 francs. In addition, Schlegel received around 79'000 francs in compensation for a mandate on the Board of Directors of the Bank for International Settlements (BIS), which is not included in the reported SNB salaries. Including this compensation, Schlegel once again earned more overall than his deputy. **Jordan’s Compensation Adds Up** Although **Thomas Jordan** stepped down as SNB Chairman at the end of September 2024, he received a total of 460'000 francs in 2025 (including social contributions). This includes salary continuation for the «cooling-off period» until March 2025 amounting to 242'700 francs, an unusually large item labelled «miscellaneous» of 163'100 francs, and social security contributions of 54'400 francs. A footnote also states that, due to Jordan’s early retirement, the employer paid an additional 1,02 million francs into the pension fund as a buy-in. Compensation for the SNB Bank Council also declined slightly in 2025. The total (including social security contributions) fell from 855'700 francs to 787'600 francs. ## Related News & Research - [Burckhardt Compression Sees Fiscal Year 2026 Sales Between CHF 900 Mln And CHF 1000 Mln](https://longbridge.com/en/news/288663983.md) - [19:40 ETIDB Invest lanza su primer bono en francos suizos](https://longbridge.com/en/news/288338282.md) - [BIS Latest Research: Stablecoins and the Future of the Global Monetary Landscape](https://longbridge.com/en/news/288285165.md) - [05:27 ETNew Report Reveals 3 in 4 CRNAs Got a Raise Last Year While Most Remain Just One Good Offer Away from a Career Move](https://longbridge.com/en/news/288550012.md) - [Swiss inflation holds steady ahead of SNB meeting](https://longbridge.com/en/news/288679724.md)
