# Unitree CEO says robots could surpass Usain Bolt’s 100m speed this year

At the Tuesday Yabuli China Entrepreneurs Forum, Wang Xingxing, founder of Unitree Robotics, predicted that by mid-year, humanoid robots globally—especially in China—will surpass human speed limits, with the 100-meter sprint potentially dropping below 10 seconds, exceeding Usain Bolt’s 9.58-second world record. Previously, a joint team from Zhejiang University developed the Bolt robot, which has achieved a peak speed of 10 meters per second. Wang said that declining costs of core components, rapid algorithm iteration, and a maturing industrial chain will drive robots out of laboratories and into real-world applications such as logistics and industrial inspection. \[TechNode Reporting\]
