# Samsung agrees to supply HBM4 to AMD, completing a key component in the fight against NVIDIA

According to Zhitong Finance APP, Samsung Electronics has agreed to supply next-generation AI memory to AMD (AMD.US) and engage in computing technology collaboration. The two companies issued a joint statement on Wednesday stating that under a preliminary agreement, Samsung will become the primary supplier of high-bandwidth memory HBM4 for AMD's enterprise data center MI455X accelerator. According to the agreement signed by AMD CEO Lisa Su and Samsung co-CEO Jun Young-hyun in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi Province, Samsung will also supply DDR5 memory chips for AMD Helios systems based on the MI455X and the new Venice central processing unit.

In addition, both parties agreed to explore opportunities for wafer foundry collaboration.

AMD is widely regarded as the strongest competitor to NVIDIA in the field of AI software development and chip operation. In recent years, AMD has established a new AI business worth billions of dollars, driving revenue and profit growth. Investors betting on its stock are seeking clearer signals to validate whether it can capture a larger share of the multi-billion dollar order market dominated by NVIDIA.

This South Korean chip manufacturer is currently a key supplier of 12-layer HBM3E for AMD accelerators MI350X and MI355X. Boosted by this news, Samsung Electronics' stock price continued to rise in the Seoul market, at one point increasing by 7.8%
