# Rio Tinto, AI Singapore ink two-year deal to develop supply chain AI solutions

**Enterprise Singapore facilitated the collaboration.**

Rio Tinto signed a two-year memorandum of understanding with AI Singapore to develop artificial intelligence (AI) solutions for its supply chains, automate operational tasks, and train AI practitioners through industry projects.

Facilitated by Enterprise Singapore, the collaboration will focus on processing over 10,000 freight invoices annually, validating data from multiple sources, and replacing manual work to improve accuracy and efficiency.

AI Singapore—a National Research Foundation programme linking universities and research institutes with industry—provides talent access to real-world mining-sector data and challenges, whilst Rio Tinto applies AI to its global value chain.

Laurence Liew, Director of AI Singapore, said the initiative exposes practitioners to industry problems and promotes AI adoption.

Will Millsteed, Chief Financial Officer of Rio Tinto, highlighted the application of AI to supply chain operations.

Lee Pak Sing, Assistant Managing Director of Enterprise Singapore, said the project strengthens Singapore as a hub for commodity companies using AI.
