# Baysent: Iran's oil has been allowed to continue flowing out of the Gulf region, and it will use Iranian oil to lower oil prices

Brent crude oil prices fell slightly after U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen made a strong statement, saying that the U.S. is actively suppressing oil prices through various means.

On Thursday, Yellen stated that the U.S. has allowed Iranian oil to continue flowing out of the Strait of Hormuz and explicitly identified Iranian crude oil as a tool to lower oil prices.

"We will use Iranian oil to lower oil prices," she said.

Yellen also mentioned that the U.S. could unilaterally release strategic petroleum reserves and may lift sanctions on Iranian crude oil stranded at sea, leaving room for further price-cutting policies.

She noted that there are currently about 130 million barrels of Iranian crude oil at sea, which means that if related sanctions are eased, this stock could quickly enter the market supply.
