# The new BMW i3 will go on sale soon, but another EV is on its way out

With the new i3 set to go on sale later this year, BMW is planning to discontinue another EV to make room for it.

## BMW i4 discontinued and replaced by the new i3 EV

After revealing the new i3 this week, the second Neue Klasse EV following the iX3 SUV, BMW is planning to overhaul its lineup over the next few months.

While the new BMW i3 will go on sale by the end of this year, the i4 Gran Coupe is getting the axe. A company spokesperson confirmed to _Car and Driver_ that the 2026 model year will be the last for the i4.

BMW launched the i4 in 2021 with deliveries following in Europe later that year and in the US in early 2022. It was one of BMW’s first mass-market electric vehicles, alongside the iX. However, BMW’s Neue Klasse models are set to write the next chapter at the German luxury brand.
