# The National Internet Information Office guides platforms to comprehensively standardize short video content labeling

The National Internet Information Office stated that it plans to guide website platforms to comprehensively standardize short video content labeling, including regulating the tags used for short video content labeling and clarifying the types of tags that must be set; making content labeling a necessary step for publishing short videos, guiding users to label the content of the short films they publish; and conducting batch retrospective and supplementary labeling of existing short video content to promote the realization of comprehensive labeling.

The Internet Information Office pointed out that currently, the standards and criteria for short video content labeling on website platforms are inconsistent. Some short videos containing fictional performances, staged marketing, and AI-generated content have not been properly labeled, seriously misleading public perception, disrupting social order, and polluting the online ecosystem.

The Internet Information Office also indicated that six key platforms, including Douyin, KUAISHOU-W (01024.HK), Tencent (00700.HK), Xiaohongshu, Bilibili (09626.HK), and Weibo (09898.HK), are actively fulfilling their primary responsibilities. In the past month, they have thoroughly cleaned up over 37,000 violations of false staged videos, dealt with more than 3,400 violating accounts, supplemented labeling for over 600,000 short videos, and issued a total of 18 governance announcements, exposing a large number of typical cases. On this basis, each key platform has taken the lead in optimizing the short video content labeling function, raising the content labeling entry to the first-level page of short video publishing to facilitate user labeling.

In the next step, the Internet Information Office will clarify specific work requirements and progress arrangements, promote the standardization of short video content labeling nationwide, and simultaneously carry out inspections and evidence collection, severely punishing accounts that fail to label as required and websites that do not effectively implement their primary responsibilities, making public exposures
