Elon Musk: SpaceX and Tesla will build a chip factory in Texas to implement the "Terafab" plan
According to foreign media reports, American billionaire Elon Musk posted on social platform X that his companies SpaceX and Tesla (TSLA.US) will build two advanced chip factories at their site in Austin, Texas, one for automotive and humanoid robot applications, and the other specifically designed for a space artificial intelligence data center.
Musk announced last Saturday (21st) plans to construct "Terafab" in Austin, stating that without building it, they cannot obtain the necessary chips, and noted that the current global chip production capacity can only meet a tiny fraction of the company's future needs. He indicated that "Terafab" will ultimately achieve an annual production capacity of one terawatt, while the total capacity across the United States is currently about half a terawatt. Musk did not disclose a specific timeline for the new plan.
In his post, Musk mentioned that "Terafab" will actually consist of two wafer fabs, each producing only one type of chip
