# China has discovered the world's second-largest light rare earth mine, and the rare earth ETF Harvest is receiving significant attention from investors

On March 23, 2026, in the morning session, as of 10:15, the CSI Rare Earth Industry Index fell by 0.03%. Among the constituent stocks, there were mixed performances, with WOLONG ELECTRIC leading the gains at 9.02%, Fengyuan Co., Ltd. rising by 5.28%, and Jingyuntong increasing by 3.37%; while Yuyuan New Materials led the declines at 2.96%, Xiangdian Co., Ltd. fell by 2.89%, and Yingsite dropped by 2.67%.

In news, Sichuan has discovered the world's second-largest light rare earth mine. According to the Ministry of Natural Resources, the rare earth resource reserve verification project in the Yaks of Mian County, Sichuan, has confirmed a total resource amount of 9.6656 million tons of rare earth oxides, along with associated super-large fluorite (27.1354 million tons) and barite (37.2277 million tons) resources.

Guosheng Securities stated that export control policies have intensified the uncertainty of strategic mineral intermediate exports, leading to a further tightening of the domestic raw material structure; this logic can be mapped to the global rare earth supply chain—currently, the development cycles of major overseas rare earth projects are long, approvals are strict, and environmental constraints are strong. Coupled with geopolitical disruptions to logistics and trade channels, the global supply elasticity of rare earths continues to be limited, making it difficult to change the medium- to long-term structural shortage pattern.

Data shows that as of February 27, 2026, the top ten weighted stocks in the CSI Rare Earth Industry Index are Northern Rare Earth, Xiamen Tungsten Industry, Goldwind Technology, China Rare Earth, Shenghe Resources, Baogang Co., Ltd., GEM, China Aluminum, Lingyi Intelligent Manufacturing, and WOLONG ELECTRIC, with the top ten weighted stocks accounting for a total of 62.34%.
