# Hong Kong Stock Market Midday Review: Hang Seng Index Down 3.56% in Half Day, Gold Sector Plummets

On March 23rd, Jin10 Data reported that the main indices of the Hong Kong stock market fell sharply in the early trading session, with the Hang Seng Index dropping 3.46%, down nearly 900 points; the Hang Seng Tech Index fell 3.1%, both hitting recent lows. In terms of sector stocks, large technology stocks and major financial stocks all declined, putting significant pressure on the market. Baidu (09888.HK) plummeted 5%, hitting a new low in recent adjustments; international precious metals continued to decline, with spot gold nearly erasing all gains for the year, leading the gold sector to underperform among non-ferrous metal stocks, with Chifeng Gold (06693.HK) dropping 25%, leading the gold sector.
