# Iran denies that the Speaker of Parliament is participating in negotiations with the U.S., U.S. media reports that someone is coordinating U.S.-Iran talks this week in Islamabad

According to CCTV News, Iran has denied that the Speaker of the Iranian Islamic Consultative Assembly, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, is participating in negotiations with the United States. Xinhua News Agency cited Iranian media stating that relevant parties are attempting to create "political and social rifts" in Iran, calling it a "huge lie."

Previously, sources indicated that the U.S. side was in talks with Ghalibaf.

According to Xinhua News Agency citing U.S. media reports, Israeli officials stated that several coordinating countries are trying to arrange talks between Ghalibaf, U.S. President Trump's envoy, Avi Berkowitz, Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner, and U.S. Vice President Mike Pence in Islamabad, Pakistan, possibly later this week.
