# Grab to buy foodpanda Taiwan for $767.08m in first non-SEA move

**The company will operate across 21 cities in the country.**

Grab Holdings Limited has agreed to acquire Delivery Hero SE’s foodpanda delivery business in Taiwan for $767.08m (US$600m) in cash.

The transaction is structured on a cash-free, debt-free basis, according to a press release.

The sale is subject to regulatory approvals with an expected closing in the second half of the year.

The acquisition marks the company’s 9th market and its first outside Southeast Asia, according to Anthony Tan, Group CEO and Co-Founder of Grab.

“Taiwan’s population of approximately 23 million also has a high demand for mobile-first services, similar to the Southeast Asian consumers who Grab serves every day,” Tan added.

The Taiwan business generated about $2.3b (US$1.8b) in gross merchandise value in 2025 and is profitable on an adjusted EBITDA basis before allocation of Delivery Hero’s group costs.

Following the acquisition, Grab will operate across 21 cities in Taiwan.

The company plans to fully migrate users, merchant partners, and driver partners from Foodpanda to the Grab app by early 2027.

Moreover, it intends to deploy its artificial intelligence suite, including its hyperlocal mapping solution, which uses real-time route planning and predictive food preparation times.
