Fink: For Ordinary People, If You Don't Invest in Giants, AI Will Widen the Wealth Gap BlackRock CEO Larry Fink warned in his annual letter to shareholders that **the economic disruption brought by artificial intelligence will exacerbate the wealth gap, and the best way to address this risk is to expand investment participation.** **Fink stated that AI is the "most important technology since at least the invention of the computer," and he acknowledged that the long-term impact of AI on the labor market is "a very important issue."** **However, he believes that history shows that transformative technologies tend to create immense value, and this value mainly flows to the companies that build and deploy these technologies and their investors.** He wrote: > **If ownership does not expand accordingly, artificial intelligence could indeed exacerbate wealth inequality.** **Therefore, ordinary people participating in the market by holding equity in quality companies is the key path to resisting the economic impact of AI.** As the world's largest asset manager, BlackRock manages approximately $14 trillion in assets, the majority of which comes from pension plans. In recent years, Fink has continuously emphasized the importance of capital markets in creating inclusive prosperity in his highly anticipated annual letters and has actively advocated for increasing investment participation rates among the global population. ## Supporting "Trump Accounts," Calling for Social Security Reform On a policy level, Fink expressed support for "Trump Accounts." This is a new type of individual retirement account where eligible children receive an initial contribution of $1,000 from the U.S. federal government. **Fink believes this is "a step in the right direction."** He also proposed a more ambitious vision: reforming the Social Security system. **He suggested investing a portion of social security funds in a diversified portfolio of stocks and bonds to achieve higher long-term returns, calling it "a potentially greater lever for wealth creation that is worth serious consideration."** **Fink also focused on the issue of energy affordability in his letter.** As tech companies and other investors pour hundreds of billions of dollars into the high-energy-consuming data centers required to power AI models, the U.S. is facing a sharp increase in energy demand. He believes that **expanding energy supply capacity through all feasible means is crucial**, while also noting that the U.S. has fallen behind in solar energy. He wrote: > The large-scale promotion of solar energy in the United States should be advanced in parallel with the construction of a more robust and diversified supply base. ### Related Stocks - [Fidelity MSCI Financials ETF (FNCL.US)](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/FNCL.US.md) - [Vanguard Financials ETF (VFH.US)](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/VFH.US.md) - [iShares US Broker-Dealers&Secs Exchs ETF (IAI.US)](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/IAI.US.md) - [The Financial Select Sector SPDR® ETF (XLF.US)](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/XLF.US.md) - [BlackRock, Inc.
