# The First 8-inch Mass Production Line for Silicon Photonics Chips Nationwide Starts Construction in Suzhou

According to Xinhua Daily, on March 24, Suzhou Starry Photonics Technology Co., Ltd.'s silicon photonics platform started construction in Suzhou High-tech Zone, and is expected to be operational by the end of this year. This is the first 8-inch mass production line nationwide focusing on silicon photonics chips. The first phase of the project has a total investment of 1.2 billion yuan and will establish an 8-inch 90nm process node production line to meet the market demand for 1.6T and 3.2T silicon photonics modules, building an independent and controllable manufacturing ecosystem for silicon-based optoelectronic integrated chips.
