India is crucial for Alphabet's Google, as most smartphones in the country use Google's Android operating system, while Apple's market share is steadily growing. Google also faces antitrust cases in India, legal challenges regarding artificial intelligence training, and stricter content removal regulations that have been in effect for tech companies since February. One of the sources said on Thursday that Roy resigned last month for personal reasons and is preparing to start her own business. The two sources spoke on condition of anonymity because the decision has not been made public. Google did not respond to requests for comment, and Roy declined to comment. Last year, Sreenivasa Reddy, the head of public policy for Google India, resigned, marking the second departure from the position in two years. The company has yet to fill this vacancy. In October this year, Google announced it would invest $15 billion over five years to establish artificial intelligence data centers in Andhra Pradesh, marking Google's largest investment ever in the world's most populous country ### Related Stocks - [iShares U.S. Digital Infras & RE ETF (IDGT.US)](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/IDGT.US.md) - [Alphabet Inc.
