# Amazon's AI chip team experiences another wave of departures, highlighting the increasing execution risks due to the outflow of AI talent

Amazon's AI chip team has just lost another key member. According to reports, a senior executive associated with the Trainium processor has left, continuing the trend of departures in the department.

Gadi Hart previously led product and customer engineering at Annapurna Labs and played a significant role in shaping Amazon's self-developed AI chips. This team has been a core force in Amazon's push for self-developed chips and reducing reliance on external suppliers. Amazon acquired Annapurna Labs for $350 million in 2015, and since then, the team has become a key pillar of its AI infrastructure strategy.

Notably, this reflects a pattern of departures. Hart is the second executive to leave in seven months, following Rami Shinnow, who moved to Arm last August. In addition to the chip team, there have also been personnel changes at the senior levels of Amazon's AI business, including Rohit Prasad, head of general artificial intelligence, who is set to leave by the end of 2025. All of this is happening amid an increasingly fierce competition for AI talent across the industry
