# April 3 Midday Market Review: SSE Index Drops Nearly 1% at Midday, Over 4,700 Stocks in the Red Across the Market

The market opened higher and then declined in the morning, with the SSE Index once again losing the 3,900-point mark. Optical communication concepts strengthened against the trend, with HYC, Etmade, Tongyu, and several other stocks hitting the daily limit. Lithography machine and photoresist concept stocks were active, with Zhongrun Optical, CSIC Specialty Gases, and Medicate rising by more than 10%. On the downside, the coal sector adjusted, with YNCE nearing the limit down; power stocks collectively retreated, with LEP and MEP touching the limit down. Individual stocks showed a broad decline, with over 4,700 stocks across the Shanghai, Shenzhen, and Beijing markets in the red, and morning turnover reaching 1.08 trillion yuan. By the midday close, the SSE Index was down 0.93%, the Shenzhen Index down 0.73%, and the ChiNext down 0.21%.
