"Economy" South Korea's debt-to-GDP ratio rises to 49% in 2025

The South Korean government reviewed and approved the "2025 Fiscal Year Settlement Report" at the cabinet meeting on Monday, showing that the national and local government debt is projected to reach 1,310 trillion won in 2025, an increase of 129.4 trillion won compared to 1,180 trillion won in 2024.

The ratio of national debt to Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is expected to rise from 46% in 2024 to 49% in 2025, an increase of 3 percentage points.

The government anticipates that, based on the original budget, the debt-to-GDP ratio will climb to 51.6% this year
