# The Ministry of Commerce responds to rare earth export controls, stating that China and the United States will maintain communication through the economic and trade consultation mechanism

In response to reports that U.S. Trade Representative Katherine Tai stated she would engage in working dialogue with Beijing regarding the continued delay of rare earth export control plans, He Yadong, spokesperson for the Ministry of Commerce, responded at a regular press conference that, according to the consensus reached during the China-U.S. Kuala Lumpur economic and trade consultations, China announced relevant export control measures on October 9 last year, which are suspended until November 10 this year. Both China and the U.S. will maintain communication on their respective concerns through the economic and trade consultation mechanism
