The FCC plans to conduct a preliminary vote on this proposal at its meeting on April 30. ## Simultaneously prohibit telecommunications operators from interconnecting with companies using Huawei and ZTE equipment The FCC stated that it is considering prohibiting telecommunications operators from interconnecting with companies that install equipment from listed companies, which include equipment manufacturers Huawei and ZTE Corporation (0763). The FCC is also considering expanding the scope of U.S. telecommunications services to include certain subsidiaries of companies on the national security list. The FCC pointed out that it will vote on another proposal on April 30 to ban all electronic devices tested in Chinese laboratories for use in the U.S., including computers, smartphones, and cameras. In response, the Chinese Embassy in the United States stated that China "consistently opposes the excessive interpretation of national security concepts and the abuse of national power to suppress Chinese enterprises." In recent years, the FCC has already prohibited the three major Chinese telecommunications companies from operating in the United States. In 2019, the FCC rejected China Mobile's application to provide telecommunications services in the U.S., and in 2021, it revoked the operating licenses of China Unicom, Pacific Networks, and its wholly-owned subsidiary ComNet in the U.S. In 2022, it revoked the operating license of China Telecom Americas.
