As of 6:34 AM Beijing time, Brent crude rose over 7% to $102.03 per barrel, while New York crude increased over 8% to $104.794 per barrel. In the precious metals sector, spot gold and spot silver opened with a sharp decline. As of the time of publication, spot gold fell below $4,650, trading at $4,648.65 per ounce, down 2.07% for the day. Spot silver dropped nearly 4% to $72.998 per ounce. The three major US stock index futures collectively fell, with all down over 1% as of the time of publication. According to CCTV News, on April 12th local time, the US Central Command issued a statement saying that, according to a presidential announcement, US Central Command forces will implement a blockade on all maritime traffic entering and exiting Iranian ports starting at 10 AM Eastern Time on April 13th.
