# News: Major shareholder increases stake in WANGUO GOLD, stock falls instead of rising at market open

Gold mining company **WANGUO GOLD GP** (3939.HK) announced last Friday that its major shareholder and chairman Gao Mingqing, through the privately owned Jiesheng Investment Company, purchased 1.7 million shares and 330,000 shares of the company on April 1 and 2 of this year, at average prices of HKD 14.245 and HKD 13.6591, respectively, totaling 2.03 million shares and involving approximately HKD 28.72 million.

After the increase, Jiesheng Investment holds 1.134 billion shares of the group, accounting for about 25.62% of the company's total issued share capital.

The group stated that Gao Mingqing is confident in the group's prospects and growth potential, and thus increased his shareholding as a long-term commitment to the group.

WANGUO GOLD fell 2.2% to HKD 13.6 on Monday, with the company's stock price down 27% from its high over the past year.
