# Apple tests multiple AI glasses designs, targeting Meta to accelerate its layout

According to Zhitong Finance APP, Apple (AAPL.US) is testing four designs for its smart AI glasses to compete with Meta (META.US) products, and plans to bring some or all of these designs to market.

The four styles being tested include: large rectangular frames similar to Ray-Ban Wayfarers; elongated rectangular designs similar to the glasses worn by Apple CEO Tim Cook; larger oval or round frames; and smaller, more refined oval or round styles.

Apple aims to surpass competitors by deeply integrating the glasses with the iPhone and offering higher-end manufacturing craftsmanship.

It is reported that Apple is considering using vertically oriented oval lenses for the glasses' camera system, accompanied by surrounding lighting, which differentiates it from Meta's round lens design.

Apple plans to release these AI glasses, codenamed N50, by the end of 2026 or early 2027, with an actual market launch target set for 2027.

The latest prototype is made from acetate fiber, which is more durable than the common plastics used by many brands. Apple is also exploring various surface treatments, including color options like black, sea blue, and light brown.

Financial journalist Mark Gurman pointed out: "If executed properly, along with a fully functional Siri, these glasses have the potential to replicate the development trajectory of the Apple Watch—although not the first to market, they could ultimately dominate."
