# Volkswagen Q1 Global Deliveries Down 4%, Western Europe Market Rises Against the Trend

Volkswagen Group recorded a decline in global deliveries for the first quarter of 2025, with pressure on several core markets. Growth in Western Europe and South America only partially offset the overall drag.

Data released by Volkswagen on Monday showed that global deliveries fell 4% to 2.05 million units in the first quarter, with the company attributing the pressure to a general market downturn and the impact of U.S. tariffs.

At the same time, deliveries in the Western European market rose against the trend by 4.2%, and South American deliveries grew by 7%, providing some support to the group's performance.

The U.S. market performed particularly weakly, with shipments down 20.5% in the first quarter, where the impact on electric vehicle sales was especially pronounced. This situation further increases the difficulty for Volkswagen to cope with tariff pressures and stabilize its North American share. This data also intensifies investor concerns about the profitability prospects of traditional automakers.

Meanwhile, Volkswagen is actively enhancing product competitiveness through cooperation with Chinese manufacturers. Volkswagen has partnered with a Chinese manufacturer to develop models better suited to Chinese consumer preferences, while its Audi brand is collaborating with another Chinese manufacturer to develop electric vehicles.
