# Acquiring the Australian Red Falcon Coal Mine, YANKUANG ENERGY is laying out its international scarce coking coal resources

According to YANKUANG ENERGY, on April 14, **YANKUANG ENERGY (600188.SH)** announced the purchase of assets, stating that its holding subsidiary YANCOAL AUS intends to acquire 100% equity of Australia’s Red Falcon Coal Group for a maximum of USD 2.4 billion, indirectly obtaining 80% equity of the Red Falcon Mine. The transaction price includes an upfront cash consideration of USD 1.85 billion and a contingent cash consideration of up to USD 550 million.

Upon completion of the transaction, YANKUANG ENERGY's resource continuity capability will be significantly enhanced, injecting strong momentum to achieve the strategic goal of 300 million tons of raw coal production. At the same time, YANCOAL AUS's product structure will be deeply optimized, with the proportion of metallurgical coal increasing from 16% to 22%, effectively reducing reliance on a single coal type and single market, greatly enhancing stress resilience and counter-cyclical capability
