# April 15 Midday Market Review: GEM Index Opens High and Falls, Closing Down 0.23%; Innovative Drug Concepts Rally Collectively

The Shanghai Composite Index opened in the red and fluctuated in the morning session, while the GEM Index opened high and fell. Innovative drug concepts rallied against the trend, with BrightGene, HISUN, JINLING PHARM., and other stocks hitting the limit up. Commercial aerospace concepts continued their upward momentum, with CETEC, Hualing Cables, and SHENJIAN GUFEN all hitting the limit up. The glass substrate packaging concept remained active repeatedly, with Vogel Optoelectronics hitting the limit up and setting a new record. On the decline side, oil and gas stocks fell, with Meineng Energy touching the limit down during the session; the lithium battery sector adjusted, with Haikexinyuan falling more than 10%. More individual stocks closed lower than higher, with over 2,800 stocks across the Shanghai, Shenzhen, and Beijing exchanges showing losses. Morning trading volume reached 1.59 trillion yuan. As of the midday close, the Shanghai Composite Index rose 0.37%, the Shenzhen Component Index fell 0.25%, and the GEM Index dropped 0.23%.
