The State Grid plans to invest 31 billion RMB in pumped storage projects this year
China's State Grid plans to invest 31 billion yuan (approximately 4.5 billion USD) this year to complete pumped storage hydropower. It is expected that by 2030, the State Grid's operational pumped storage capacity will exceed 78 million kilowatts, providing over 150 million kilowatts of power regulation capacity, an increase of more than 70% compared to the end of the 14th Five-Year Plan.
Chen Weiyong, director of the Development Planning Department of the State Grid Pumped Storage Division (Xinyuan Group, Xinyuan Holdings), stated that the investment will strongly promote the coordinated development of power generation, electrical equipment, energy-using devices, raw materials, and other enterprises, driving upstream and downstream investments in the industrial chain to exceed 60 billion yuan
