# Singapore Airlines Group achieved a record high in passenger numbers in March, with a year-on-year increase of 15% to 3.8 million passengers | Lianhe Zaobao

In the first month of the Middle East conflict, March 2026, Singapore Airlines Group's passenger numbers surged by 14.9% year-on-year, setting a new monthly record of 3.8 million passengers. This led the group to achieve a new high in passenger numbers for the fiscal year ending March 2025/26, reaching 42.4 million passengers, an increase of 7.7% compared to the previous record of 39.4 million passengers set in the 2024/25 fiscal year.

Singapore Airlines Group includes Singapore Airlines (SIA) itself and its low-cost airline Scoot. In March, Singapore Airlines' passenger numbers rose by 9.5% year-on-year to 2.42 million, while Scoot's passenger numbers soared by 25.6% to 1.38 million.

Singapore Airlines announced after the market closed on Wednesday (April 15) that the group's passenger traffic or revenue passenger-kilometers in March increased by 14.7% year-on-year, exceeding the 7.2% year-on-year growth in passenger capacity. As a result, the group's passenger load factor rose by 5.9 percentage points year-on-year to 90.6%, with Singapore Airlines and Scoot's load factors reaching 90.3% (a new monthly high) and 91.7%, respectively.

Singapore Airlines stated: "The strong growth in passenger numbers is attributed to the increased demand for air travel ahead of the Easter holiday in early April, as well as the capacity constraints at the Middle Eastern aviation hub due to the ongoing conflict, leading to spillover passenger traffic to Europe."

Given the geopolitical situation in the Middle East, Singapore Airlines and Scoot have implemented rolling cancellations for flights to Dubai (United Arab Emirates) and Jeddah (Saudi Arabia).
