# Interconnectivity Tools Continue to Expand as Mutual Funds Aggressively Enter Hong Kong ETF Market

Recently, HKEX announced the addition of two technology indices to its index portfolio: the HKEX-KRX Semiconductor Index and the HKEX Technology & US Tech 100 Index. Five mainland mutual fund overseas subsidiaries have received authorization for these indices and will launch corresponding ETF products in the Hong Kong stock market. According to the compilation principles of these newly added technology indices, the relevant ETF products are expected to be included in the interconnectivity ETF category after listing on HKEX.

Notably, in recent years, there has been a clear trend of mainland mutual fund institutions intensifying their efforts in the Hong Kong ETF market. The number of ETFs listed on HKEX is projected to reach a record high in 2025, with over half being products under mainland mutual fund overseas subsidiaries. Among ETFs newly launched this year, this proportion exceeds 70%. (China Securities Journal)
