# Alibaba Tongyi Lab Open Sources Qwen3.6-35B-A3B Model

On April 16, Alibaba Tongyi Lab announced the open-source release of Qwen3.6-35B-A3B. According to the introduction, this is an efficient model based on a sparse Mixture of Experts (MoE) architecture: it has a total of 35 billion parameters but activates only 3 billion parameters during each inference.

In terms of agent programming, Qwen3.6-35B-A3B substantially surpasses its predecessor Qwen3.5-35B-A3B and can hold its own against larger dense models such as Qwen3.5-27B and Gemma-31B, while maintaining compatibility with mainstream coding assistants including OpenClaw, Claude Code, and Qwen Code.
