# Fathom launches a no-robot transcription feature to solve the problem of crowded online meetings

PingWest reported on April 17th that the AI note-taking tool Fathom has released a significant update, introducing a new feature that allows for the transcription of meetings without the need for an AI bot to join. This update enables users to directly record and transcribe all participating calls through the desktop client, aiming to eliminate the disruption caused by third-party bots in the meeting space.

Fathom CEO Richard White pointed out that existing non-bot tools often struggle to accurately identify speakers, leading to confusion in attribution. To address this, Fathom has leveraged advancements in AI models over the past six months, focusing on optimizing voiceprint recognition technology to ensure accurate differentiation of "who said what," thereby enhancing the accuracy for users when revisiting the context of meetings.

Additionally, Fathom has launched a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server, allowing users to seamlessly integrate meeting data with various AI tools for queries. The company plans to release an iOS application to support offline meeting recordings and is committed to further improving the accuracy and practicality of transcription data through various recording modes.
