National Australia Bank Limited ( (AU:NAB) ) just unveiled an announcement.

National Australia Bank has moved to bolster its balance sheet in response to heightened market volatility stemming from the conflict in the Middle East, increasing forward-looking collective provisions and adjusting its dividend reinvestment plan. The bank expects first-half 2026 credit impairment charges of $706 million, driven by higher economic adjustments and sector overlays for industries exposed to fuel supply and cost risks.

These changes, alongside interest rate volatility, a weaker New Zealand dollar, and an overlay on internally rated credit models, have pressured NAB’s Common Equity Tier 1 ratio, prompting a 1.5% discounted and partially underwritten DRP expected to raise up to $1.8 billion and add about 40 basis points to capital in the second half. NAB has also revised its software capitalisation policy, shortening asset lives, tightening what can be capitalised, and lifting the capitalisation threshold to $20 million, which will increase expensed technology investment from the second half of 2026 and may dampen reported earnings while aligning with peer practice and technological change.

The most recent analyst rating on (AU:NAB) stock is a Sell with a A$39.30 price target. To see the full list of analyst forecasts on National Australia Bank Limited stock, see the AU:NAB Stock Forecast page.
