
The three major A-share indices of Shanghai and Shenzhen fell by 0.2% to 0.9% in the half-day session, with brokerage and chip stocks weakening, while coal and power stocks rose against the trend
The central parity rate of the RMB against the US dollar is reported at 6.8594, an increase of 54 points from the previous day. The People's Bank of China today (21st) conducted a 7-day reverse repurchase operation of 5 billion RMB (same below) in the open market, with the operation rate remaining at 1.4%. Today, 1 billion RMB of reverse repos are maturing, resulting in a net injection of 4 billion RMB for the day.
The three major indices of A-shares showed weakness in the morning session. The Shanghai Composite Index closed at 4,072 points, down 9 points or 0.2%, with a turnover of 680.6 billion RMB; the Shenzhen Component Index closed at 14,854 points, down 112 points or 0.8%, with a turnover of 891 billion RMB; the ChiNext Index closed at 3,642 points, down 34 points or 0.9%, with a turnover of 411.8 billion RMB.
Banking stocks continued to rise, with Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (601398.SH) and China Construction Bank (601939.SH) up 0.8% and 1.6% respectively. China Mobile (600941.SH) opened high and rose 2.9%, with its first-quarter net profit declining by 4.2% year-on-year.
Brokerage stocks weakened, with Guosheng Securities (002670.SZ) hitting the daily limit down, and Guoyuan Securities (000728.SZ) falling 6.2%. Harbin Taikang Co., Ltd. (600864.SH), Hualin Securities (002945.SZ), and First Capital Securities (002797.SZ) each fell over 2%.
Coal and power stocks rose against the trend, with JHSCIC (601001.SH), Yanzhou Coal Mining Company (600188.SH), and Shaanxi Coal and Chemical Industry (601225.SH) rising between 4.2% and 5%. Zhejiang Xineng (600032.SH) and Baofeng Energy (000690.SZ) both hit the daily limit up. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology stated that it is conducting research and standard formulation on collaborative electricity policies.
Chip stocks retreated, with SMIC (688981.SH) A-shares down 1.7%. Hua Hong Semiconductor (688347.SH) A-shares fell 3%. AI chip stock Cambricon (688256.SH) also dropped 4.9%. Domestic GPU stocks MuXi Co., Ltd. (688802.SH) and Moore Threads (688795.SH) fell 2.8% and 3.4% respectively. Xilinx (688521.SH) fell 7.3%.
This year's "May Day" holiday period will see the release of multiple new films, and film and television stocks rose against the trend, with Wenguang Investment Holdings (600715.SH) and Beijing Culture (000802.SZ) both hitting the daily limit up. Bona Film Group (001330.SZ) rose 6.3%.
In addition, CATL (300750.SZ) rose 1.9%. Tianqi Lithium (002466.SZ) rose 4.9%, with its first-quarter net profit expected to grow by 1,530.31% year-on-year to 1,818.01 million RMB. BYD (002594.SZ) fell 1.4%
