# CBOT corn ends higher on rising crude oil as rain threatens Midwest planting

CHICAGO, April 21 (Reuters) - Chicago Board of Trade corn futures rose on Tuesday on technical buying and higher crude oil prices, supported by forecasts for rain in the Midwest to disrupt planting progress, traders said.

-   Oil prices climbed about 5% on Tuesday after U.S. President Donald Trump said he did not want to extend a soon-to-expire ceasefire in the Iran war and that the U.S. military was “raring to go” if negotiations do not succeed. (O/R)
-   The U.S. Department of Agriculture said the nation’s corn crop was 11% planted as of Sunday, up from 5% the previous week.
-   Dry weather is expected in the central U.S. over the coming days, but rain is forecast to return late this week, likely stalling field work, meteorologists said.
-   The USDA confirmed private sales of 100,000 metric tons of U.S. corn to Colombia and 195,000 tons to undisclosed buyers for shipment in the 2025⁄26 marketing year.
-   CBOT May corn (CK26) ended 1-3⁄4 cents higher at $4.53-3⁄4 per bushel. New-crop December corn (CZ26) rose 2-1⁄4 cents to $4.81-3⁄4 a bushel.
