# Ant Deploys Privacy-Enhancing Technologies Across Alipay+

**Ant International has completed a major upgrade to its global wallet gateway, Alipay+.**

Alipay+ becomes the first large-scale digital payment ecosystem to fully implement privacy-enhancing technologies (PETs) across all critical operations, it says in a press releas by Ant.

The upgrade strengthens data protection for the platform’s vast network, which connects more than 150 million merchants and 1.8 billion user accounts worldwide. With PETs now fully integrated, all data processed through Alipay+ is encrypted end-to-end and remains unidentifiable—even to Ant International itself—throughout the payment lifecycle.

**A New Standard for Data Privacy in Payments**

Privacy-enhancing technologies are designed to allow businesses to analyze and process data without exposing sensitive information. In the case of Alipay+, this means transaction data is encrypted before processing and never decrypted in a way that reveals personal or commercially sensitive details.

According to Ant International, the benefits for partners include improved compliance with evolving global data privacy regulations, reduced risks tied to data transmission, and stronger assurances for consumers—all without affecting user experience or operational efficiency.

«Trust in our systems is integral to delivering secure and efficient digital services globally,» said **Jiang-Ming Yang**, Chief Innovation Officer of Ant International. «This upgrade ensures that partners and customers can be confident their data remains private at every stage—even from us.»

The company is also encouraging its e-wallet partners to adopt PETs within their own systems. To support this, Ant International plans to open-source parts of its PETs codebase in phases, giving partners greater transparency and control.

**Collaboration With Regulators**

Ant International’s rollout of PETs has been coordinated with regulators, particularly in Singapore. The company worked with the Personal Data Protection Commission (PDPC) to test a proof-of-concept involving PET-enabled AI model training.
