# Oil prices surge briefly after Trump orders Navy to fire on vessels laying mines in the Strait of Hormuz

Brent crude rose $1.09 per barrel in five minutes to $102.79 per barrel; WTI crude gained $0.97 per barrel to $93.65 per barrel. This follows Trump's order for the Navy to fire on vessels laying mines in the Strait of Hormuz.
