A sovereign wealth fund is a state-owned investment vehicle that uses government surplus reserves to invest in financial assets such as stocks and bonds but is independently managed. Many other countries, notably Saudi Arabia, have massive sovereign wealth funds. ## **Managing the Fund for Canada** According to Carney, the fund will be "professionally managed and operate as an arm's length independent Crown corporation." The sovereign wealth fund is also intended to complement and accelerate the work of existing institutions such as the Business Development Bank of Canada. "Whether a project is in Alberta, Quebec, or in the far north, high north, all Canadians will have a stake because this is about ensuring that you and your children and your children's children benefit from the prosperity that we are creating today," Carney said at a news conference. Canada is seeking to diversify and strengthen its economy, which has been harmed by U.S. tariffs, rising oil prices, and geopolitical uncertainty. News of the sovereign wealth fund has leading Canadian stocks such as Royal Bank of Canada (RY), Shopify (SHOP), and Lululemon Athletica (LULU) trading marginally higher on April 27. ## **Is LULU Stock a Buy?** Lululemon Athletica's stock has a consensus Hold rating among 20 Wall Street analysts. That rating is based on one Buy and 19 Hold recommendations issued in the last three months. The average LULU price target of $178.38 implies 23% upside from current levels. ### Related Stocks - [RY.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/RY.US.md) - [LULU.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/LULU.US.md) - [SHOP.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/SHOP.US.md) - [SPY.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/SPY.US.md) ## Related News & Research - [$100 Invested In Shopify 10 Years Ago Would Be Worth This Much Today](https://longbridge.com/en/news/284457909.md) - [What to Expect From lululemon athletica's Q1 2026 Earnings Report](https://longbridge.com/en/news/284227816.md) - [Why Russia’s economy is under pressure](https://longbridge.com/en/news/284975042.md) - ['Significant baggage': Mohamed El-Erian told us the challenges facing American exceptionalism in markets and the economy](https://longbridge.com/en/news/284918257.md) - [RBC BlueBay appoints Product Strategist in Hong Kong](https://longbridge.com/en/news/284359969.md)
