02:26 PM EDT, 04/30/2026 (MT Newswires) -- AvalonBay Communities ( AVB ) and Equity Residential ( EQR ) have held discussions over a potential merger, which would be one of the biggest real estate deals ever, Bloomberg reported Wednesday evening, citing people familiar with the matter.

There is no guarantee that the talks, which are still at the initial stage, will lead to a transaction, the people reportedly said.

AvalonBay Communities ( AVB ) and Equity Residential ( EQR ) did not respond to a request for comment by MT Newswires.
