# The World's Top Venture Capitalist: Alphabet

Alphabet's financial report was "stunning," with quarterly profits hitting $62.6 billion, half of which came from $37.7 billion in "paper gains" generated by its private investments in companies such as SpaceX and Anthropic.

Alphabet's investment team's performance can be described as the best in the business right now. Just look at the following two deals:

In 2015, Alphabet invested $1 billion in SpaceX; in 2023, it invested $3 billion in Anthropic.

Today, both investments are valued at over $100 billion.
