# Hong Kong Stock Exchange plans to restart gold futures trading

Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEX) Head of Markets, Yu Xueqin, stated at a Legislative Council committee meeting that the exchange will consult with market participants and stakeholders to optimize contract design and improve mechanisms. He noted that due to geopolitical influences, investors need to diversify risks when buying, selling, and storing gold, making the design of gold futures and its integration with Hong Kong's physical gold ecosystem absolutely necessary.
