# Heidelberg Materials Earnings Drop, Hurt by Harsh Winter

By Nina Kienle

Heidelberg Materials posted lower operating results amid a challenging geopolitical environment and difficult weather conditions, but said that a significant recovery in demand is visible.

The German building-materials group on Wednesday said its results from current operations before depreciation and amortization--the company's preferred metric--for the three months fell 12.3% on a like-for-like basis to 484 million euros ($566 million) compared with the prior-year period.

Results from current operations fell 30.3% on a like-for-like basis to 163 million euros.

Analysts had forecast results from current operations before depreciation and amortization at 485 million euros, and results from current operations at 162 million euros, according to a company-compiled consensus.

Revenue fell to 4.54 billion euros from 4.715 billion euros, in line with analysts' estimated 4.54 billion euros, according to the same consensus.

"Thanks to our strong focus on cost discipline and price adjustments, we were able to partially compensate for declining volumes in the first quarter," Chief Executive Dominik von Achten said.

For 2026, the company backed its outlook and said it anticipates demand in core markets to stabilize.
